Your Child Accused of Sexual Offense

If your child is under investigation for a sexual offense, do not let them speak to the police before contacting a defense attorney. It is important to contact an experienced defense attorney as soon as possible if your child is either charged or under investigation for a sexual offense.

Being charged with a sexual offense in Colorado is a serious matter, even if you are a child. Pleading guilty to a sexual offense will require your child to register as a sex offender. Often times the alleged sexual offense will seem relatively minor, like grabbing the butt of another student at school. However, touching the butt of another person constitutes the the crime of Unlawful Sexual Contact. If your child pleads guilty to that offense, he/she will still have to complete sex offender treatment and register as a sex offender.

Your child may also be charged with sexual assault of a child for inappropriate touching of a sibling or family member. It is no defense to sexual assault of a child that the person accused is also a child.
